Question:

Tire problems............?

okay. So I have this bike and the bike tire is flat. So I go and get a pump. I take off the cap. I put the pump on and I pump. After two seconds I hear a pwoop sound and the pump still looks like its on the tire, but there the tire is filling up rather slowly. After 6 minutes of pumping with the tire still flatter than two dimensions I come inside and ask the internet for help. But other people who have this problem just had a presta valve and were using the wrong pump. I do not have a presta valve. So I go out and pump and nothing happens, so I formulated for you guys to answer to help me the most.

Should I be able to hear the air hiss even for a couple seconds after I stop pumping?

Is it possible the pump is broken?

Is it possible that the pwoop sound was the pump popping off.

It might help if you explain everything as simply as possible and I mean Simply. Sites that I have looked at including this one haven't helped much. I appreciate your answers!

  1. Try unscrewing the pump end cap.Remove the innards and then lubricate the rubber piece using talcum powder.

Reinsert the rubber and make sure it is in good[flush with the end],then rescrew the end cap on.

    Just a thought

  2. 1) With the pump not connected to any thing, use the pump and does air come out of the valve end? Now put your finger over the end and try pumping it again, does it build pressure?

    2) If the pump checks out, remove the tube and try inflating it out side the tire. don't pump it up too much, but if it has a leak you should be able to hear it easier with the tube free of the tire.

    3) If the tube has a leak and you have a hard time finding it submerge it in water and follow the bubbles.

  3. For schrader, the pump head has to be on all the way or the spring-loaded valve won't open.  Make sure the pump head is on all the way. If that's not the problem, it's a pretty big hole let air out as fast as it's going in.

  4. It sounds to me like you have a hole in the tube, and need to change it.
