Tires on my Craftsman lawn tractor keep getting flats.?

They are the factory tires 15x6x6 in front and 20x10x8 rear. Seems little pieces of wood pierce them. This has happened 5x in a year. They are the tubeless tires. I have 3 acres I mow with 2.5 of it grass and the rest weeds. Any suggestions as to what to replace them with? And where to buy? thanks

  1. Maybe they weren't the best tires they put on your mower.  I've had good service with the tires on craftsmans mowers as they seem rather durable.

  2. Fix them, then put a large bottle of Slime brand fix a flat in each tire.  Works well.

  3. I would think almost any Sears store will order a new set or possibly a local tire retailer may have your size. Those tires (almost any brand) are made as cheaply as possible and thin as a piece of paper. Replacement tires however are made a little bit better with better materials. Just don't be shocked at the prices, they will probably range around 30.00 - 45.00 each.

  4. Convert the tractor into a tank.  With tank tracks you can go anywhere.

  5. tractor surply [ tsc ]  , then buy tire sealer for tubless tires , the white stuff , it come in bottles do what the lable says, on how much of it you need. works for me, to keep the tires from going flat.

  6. You can change from the turf tires to the heavier tread.  Also slime does work.  I have used it for years.  Not to say you will never have a flat but it cuts down on the numbers.

  7. its worth a try!what i have found is that air leaks out on both sides of the tire where it seats on the wheel. my cure is to break the tire loose from their wheel and use a liberal amount of heavy grease on both tire and wheel. when i put the air back in them it stays.

  8. unfortunately the mower u have is a finish mower and made for green grass only if u use it for a rough cut mower(Field/wildgrass) it will tear it up faster, now just bcuz it says sears does not make it good, actually the mower is made by a.y.p painted and stickered for sears. SLIME/TIRE SEALANT IN MY TWENTY YEARS IN THIS INDUSTRY DO NOT WORK. the way it was made to work is to put it in the tire b4 u have problems then it takes hours of operation to coat the inside of the tire. then it only works on tiny holes and not on the sidewall at all. Now every state will have a place u can buy little tires from I always recommended the heaviest ply tire u can buy in that size then add the sealant when new. not guaranteed tho or u can buy solid filled tires or have them foam filled which will make axle bearings wear faster, good luck
