  2. or the Ninth of Av, is an annual fast day in Judaism that falls in July or August. Its name denotes the ninth day (Tisha) of the Jewish month of Av. The day has been called the "saddest day in Jewish history.

    When the ninth of Av falls on the Sabbath, the observance is pushed off until Sunday the tenth (although that day is still referred to as Tisha B'Av).

    Significance/ Importance:

    Mourning specifically for the destruction of the First & Second Temples in Jerusalem, and more generally for all calamities which have befallen the Jewish people.

    It is on sunset, August 9 – nightfall, August 10 2008.
