Titan joins hands with Little People's Golf Championships Association as co-sponsor
Little People's Golf Championships Association has inked Titan International, Inc. of Quincy, Illinois as a co-title Sponsor for the event. The event, which serves as a platform for the amateurs, is primarily sponsored by Pepsi
Co. since the inception of the tournament in 1974.
The deal was disclosed by the tournament chief, Titan and Pepsi officials in the press conference held on Monday.
Little People's Golf Championships had been facing financial issues since the last quarter of 2010. The tournament has served as a platform for thousand of female golfers to pursue golf as a career and since its contribution in
the sport is immense, therefore Titan decided to step in at this crucial time and help the association.
Titan's CEO and Chairman of the Board Morry Taylor said, “When we saw there was a threat that the tournament might have to leave the community, we couldn't let it happen. Local businesses profit from the tournament and the young
people that participate in the event do as well.”
Looking at the generosity of Titan, Roy Nelson, who is the General Manager of Refreshment Services Pepsi, thanked the Chairman of Titan and welcomed him into his team.
He said, “We are very pleased to welcome Titan International on board as our Co-Title Sponsor starting with the 2012 Little People's.”
Nelson added that he was hoping for a wonderful partnership which would help in retaining the tournament in Quincy and serve as the playing ground of the superstars of tomorrow.
Nelson also defined the general changes that would be brought in the tournament with effect from 2012. The name of the tournaments held under the board will be changed to Pepsi Titan Little People's Golf Championships and the Pepsi
Titan LP Collegiate Golf Championships.
Nan Ryan, Executive Director of Little People Association, added to the statement given by Nelson that Pepsi had proved itself as a fantastic partner for 38 years now. He expected a similar partnership with Titan and hoped that
together they could keep the tournament in the region and change the lives of amateur golfers, who would become the professionals of tomorrow.
