Titans’ centre Jamal Idris’ rigorous pre-season training sessions helping him get back to shape
According to the news in speculations, the Gold Coast Titans’ centre Jamal Idris is shedding his baby-fat fast after tough training sessions in the month of December, just ahead of the next season of National Rugby League (NRL).
Reports revealed that he is training hard and had so far reduced a total of 20mm of skinfolds along with a total loss of 4Kgs fats. Meanwhile, his rigorous workout sessions have gained him a total of 2Kgs of muscle mass too.
It appears that the Titans’ centre is in it to prove himself the ultimate best for the position. As he had promised previously he is willing to give his 100 percent to silence the negative comments that came pouring from various quarters when his uptake
was made with the Titans back in November.
While talking about the looming threat which is posed to others in Idris’ form, the director of athletic performance, Chris McLellan, said, “Playing at 118kg is probably where he wants to be. I'm not sure if that's where we want him to be. It's only December
so he will probably drop another three to four kilograms. It's not about the scales though. It's about lean muscle mass and body fat. His skinfolds are down 20mm. He broke the bench-pull record with one injured hand and when he's allowed to do bench presses
again he will probably go close there. We haven't drawn a line in the sand in regards to a kilogram mark.”
McLellan continued about Idris, who is soon to link up with Titans’ winger Kevin Gordon, and said that if Titans’ centre can carry 118kg and still do the times they require him to do, then that is all good.
While talking about his left hand’s injury which he picked up during his training, Idris said that he will recover from his injury soon. He also joked that he was only doing his weight using one arm alone.
He further added that he loved his pre-season training sessions with Titans which had been planned to prepare the entire squad for nothing less than the best. Gordon is the highlight of the outfit, because his progress has been the starkest so far.
