Titans in a fix over Matt Hasselbeck availability for next game – NFL News
Tennessee Titans’ quarterback Matt Hasselbeck has added further to his team’s uncertainty about his chances for their next game by failing to join his side for practice on Wednesday.
Hasselbeck was expected to recover from his calf injury to be available for practice on Wednesday which was set to ascertain if he was going to play for the Titans. He failed to turn up leaving his team in a fix over his availability
for the next game.
Titans coach Mike Munchak however said that he assumed Hasselbeck as playing in their game on Sunday unless he informs them otherwise.
He added that a decision on Hasselbeck’s return might be easier to be made if he takes part in practice on Thursday.
"So it's just a matter of waiting to see how he does. We are not worried about him knowing the offense or knowing what we are doing as much as the fact the he physically feels comfortable doing those things. ... He knows if he
doesn't feel right and he will be honest with us, so we still feel good about him and hope that he will be ready to go Sunday."
Hasselbeck was injured in Titans game against New Orleans Saints on past Sunday. He has not taken part in practice since then. His side is still unclear about the timeline of his recovery.
If Hasselbeck is out for the next game, this will give an opportunity to young quarterback Jake Locker to start at his position for the Titans. However both of the players did not speak to reporters.
Locker had played for the Titans in the game before last week performing well at the quarterback position. His play even led to a controversy that who will be starting for the Titans in next game: Hasselbeck or Locker?
This prompted Titans coach Mike Munchak to immediately clarify that Hasselbeck was their starter if he returned from the injury, and he eventually played at his position.
The possibility of Hasselbeck’s absence in next game stands giving another chance to Locker to start for the Titans and prove his talent and skills.
