Titans’ quarterback Matt Hasselbeck injury not serious, likely for next game – NFL News
Tennessee Titans’ quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is expected to play this Sunday game as tests reports have confirmed that his injury is not serious.
A decision whether he plays the Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be made on the situation how he feels at throwing the ball. If he is confident at throwing the ball his participation is definite, their coach
Mike Munchak said.
The coach said that the tests reports were negative. The player has not suffered a structural damage to his forearm or elbow. It is a strain in his right arm, which forced him to be out in the third quarter during past Sunday's
game.
He was injured in their game against the Atlanta Falcons. He hit his arm on a defender's helmet. He was made to stay on the sideline for the rest of the game by his doctor, after he apparently felt uncomfortable at throwing the
ball.
His absence provided the rookie Jake Locker a chance to play at his position, and his impressive performance left a question mark for Munchak who will be starting at the quarterback position in their next game: Locker or Hasselbeck?
The coach, however, played down if there was a controversy about making a choice between the two. He said if the Hasselbeck was fit he would be at starting position.
After confirmation of the test reports confirming Hasselbeck's injury not to be serious, Munchak said that the player would be considered for day to day practice. He is expected to sit on the sidle during this Wednesday's practice.
“He'll be smart about it to tell us where he's at," Munchak said of Hasselbeck. "It's different when you're throwing the football. He'll know pretty well how that arm feels and if he can make all the throws or not. If it gets to
that, I'm sure the right decision will be made by us and Matt."
Hasselbeck’s return will force Jake Locker to further wait before his next opportunity with the Titans. It is being hoped that keeping in view his performance during his previous chance, he might not have to wait for another injury
to stage a comeback; he can be considered for play confidently now by the Titans any time.
