Led by a solid half-ton from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Henry-Davids-c62423, the Titans claimed a 4-wicket win over the Cape Cobras in their match during the ongoing Momentum One Day Cup, played at the Willowmoore Park in Benoni, on November 7.
The match kicked off with the Cape Cobras winning the toss and deciding to bat first. Roelof van der Merwe (10-0-45-2) remained the main bowler for the Titans, but centurion http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Puttick-c1043 did not appear fazed and calmly led his side to a seemingly substantial
total of 277 by the end of 50 overs.
Opening for his side, Puttick smashed a vital 106, but his fellow opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dane-Vilas-c1307, however,
contributed an individual score of 62, in addition to joining Puttick for a massive 127-run partnership for the second wicket.
Their combined efforts got the team up to a total of 150, after which http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stiaan-van-Zyl-c91407 (21) attempted to keep the momentum going with a 46-run stand with Puttick, but his time at the crease was cut short
in the 38th over, with his dismissal via run out.
Skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PL-Harris-c2193 in the 42nd over, and Puttick followed in the very next over, trapped lbw by van der Merwe. By this point, the Cobras had reached 222 for 5, and some final contributions
from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alistair-Gray-c43661 (14*), enabled the team to post a final total of 277.
The Titans, however, found themselves equal to the chase, which they managed to complete successfully, despite the efforts of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Beuran-Hendricks-c1149 (10-0-68-3).
Opener and Player of the Match Davids led the chase with a solid 92, and was joined by wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mangaliso-Mosehle-c74145 (43)
picked up from where Kuhn left off, going on to establish a 65-run partnership with Davids.
Mosehle was soon dismissed by Gray, and both skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/David-Wiese-c53276 (40) made a strong attempt
to keep the runs coming with a 72-run partnership for the 5th wicket, but both eventually fell prey to Hendricks in the 44th over.
However, van der Merwe (11*) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cornelius-de-Villiers-c1284 (3*) ensured that the team did not falter in the chase, and their unbeaten 14-run partnership saw the Titans safely to 282, with 4 wickets and 20 deliveries remaining.
