Titans v Knights – Momentum One Day Cup, 2012/13 – Match Recap
A timely century from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/HG-Kuhn-c1548 put the Titans on solid ground, and steered them to an 81-run victory over the Knights in their match during the ongoing Momentum One Day Cup, played at the SuperSport Park in Centurion on November 11.
The Knights won the toss and decided to field first, launching an attack spearheaded by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-McLaren-c2232 (10-1-44-2), and Johan van der Wath (10-0-47-2).
Opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Henry-Davids-c62423 did not manage an impressive performance this time around, and found himself dismissed on 6 by van der Wath in the 5th over. However, fellow opener Kuhn firmly anchored the innings with a solid 107, and was joined by Mangaliso
Mosehle (69) for a 127-run partnership for the second wicket.
Mosehle was eventually dislodged by Boje, but his successor, skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Martin-van-Jaarsveld-c74944, picked up seamlessly, and contributed an individual total of 64, in addition to teaming up with Player of the Match Kuhn for a 121-run third-wicket stand. After the
dismissals of both batsmen (Kuhn off van der Wath, and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Robert-Cowdrey-c60631 Jaarsveld off du Preez), the team had reached 260 for 4 by the 44th over.
None of the remaining batsmen, save Roelof van der Merwe (17*) managed to reach double figures. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ethy-Mbhalati-c1424 all contributed one run each. However,
the contributions from the top order had put the team on solid ground, and by the end of 50 overs, with 9 wickets down, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Titans-c856 posted a first innings total of 285.
The team followed up their batting performance with an intense bowling effort – Roelof van der Merwe (8.3-0-26-5) remained the stand-out bowler, while Davids (10-1-43-4) made up for his uninspiring batting performance with a significant effort with the ball.
Opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rilee-Rossouw-c2322 (43) joined Hendricks for
a 74-run partnership for the second wicket.
None of the remaining batsmen were able to pick it up after the dismissals of Hendricks and Rossouw. Skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jean-Pierre-Horatio-Triegaardt-c66760 (0) were all unremarkable, and while Ryan McLaren
(22), Johan van der Wath (27*), and Dillon du Preez (12) all managed to get starts, they failed to take advantage of them. Unable to face up to the challenge posed by their opponents, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Knights-c805 were all out for 204 by the 37th over, with the Titans
going on to claim an 81-run win.
