Title contenders at this year’s WGC-HSBC Champions-Part 2
In the previous part, we discussed the chances that the major winners stand at the WGC-HSBC Champions at Olazabal Course in China. Here, we take a look at some of the other big names, who will surely have their influence on the field.
Matt Kuchar
The American, Kuchar made it to the WGC-HSBC Champions, thanks to his victory at the Player Championship.
Kuchar has been very consistent this season but he has not had much success throughout. His only victory was at the Players Championship, where he absolutely dazzled the field.
The world number fifteen has not been in the best of the forms but one can never overlook his stunning victory performance at the Players Championship.
The Players Championship is another elite level tournament and it is also referred to as the fifth major.
Yes, despite his somewhat recent lapses, Matt still has a slight chance at the Mission Hills Club in Shenzhen.
Hunter Mahan
Hunter Mahan is another very dangerous player who, on his day, can literally destroy the field with his dazzling shots.
Mahan has two victories this year but they came very early in the season. However, he certainly possesses the skill and the game to be a world beater at a major tournament.
Lately, he has not been in the best of forms and he was very upset when Davis Love III did not pick him for Ryder Cup.
However, this factor might prove to be vital point at WGC-HSBC Champions. Surely, he would want to prove Davis Love III wrong and he can only do so by winning the WGC event.
Considering the kind of player Hunter is, if he really gets going, it will be tough for others to catch him.
Martin Kaymer
The German has been in decent form lately, winning the Ryder Cup for his team and playing some decent golf at the Italian Open in Turin.
However, the thing that will be driving him on for success at the Mission Hills Golf Course would be the fact that he is the defending champion.
When the former world number one Kaymer won the 2011 event, it was at a different golf course. So it will be just a touch difficult for him to defend his title on the new course.
Keegan Bradley
The world number fourteen has had only one win this season, at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational but it was an important one indeed.
Keegan, lately, has been in good form. Although team USA lost the Ryder Cup but the rookie played some excellent golf and showed the world why he was in the USA team.
Keegan would need to play equally well. He should maintain the way he played in the Ryder Cup if he wants to land in his second WGC event of the year.
