Title of Anime movie 80s - Boy Marooned on Alien Planet?

I'm looking for the title of an anime movie about a boy who gets marooned on an alien planet. He befriends a white pony-type creature which gets snared and eaten in a dark cave by tentacles as the boy watches in horror. Very little dialogue, very dark/sad. Help!

Les Maîtres du temps (lit. The Masters of Time, a.k.a. Time Masters, Az idő urai in Hungarian) is an animated French/Hungarian science fiction film (79 minutes) from 1982.
