Title of this book, any ideas or guesses will help?

Question

...a princess,who lives underground, finds a forgotten door that leads to a ladder. The ladder leads to the surface of the earth in some mythical forest. She gets sleepier and sleepier until vines grow over her.

The illustrations are so detailed...like these large beaked bird lizard things. I haven't seen this book for over 11years.

...anyway, I thought it was called the forgotten door but that's not it because that book is totally different. Can anyone help me out?
