Title on hand but not sure if i can sell?

my boyfriend and i purchased a antique truck. the bill of sale has his name on it but neither he nor i ever registerd this vehicle due to wanted to renovate it first. The truck belongs to me but i want to sell it to a prominant buyer. my boyfriend and i are not in speaking terms and i am working on getting out of the relationship but in the mean time i have title on hand for this truck to eaither register it as mine or sell if necessary, Later on could he come back and sue me for that?

  1. If the bill of sale is made out to only your boyfriend then you have a problem he will have to sign the vehicle over to you. If you sell it now he can come back on you and probably sue you. It would be like selling something that is not legally yours. You have no documents with your name on themn thats says it is your vehicle Watch out what you are doing because you could end up with nothing


  2. Who's name is in the buyers area on the back of the title ? If neither of your names were entered,and he has a bill of sale in his name,well yes you could have a problem ! If your name is on the title as the buyer,it will over ride the bill of sale. Can you prove that you paid for the vehicle with a cancelled check or anything ? A withdraw slip from your bank ? Well, good luck, hope you prevail !
