  1. first tiger does not play nike irons. he custom makes his with i company named mirra, based in asia. for titleist not my fav iron  a friend got them and has been playing well but he is a scratch golfer. there are better choices out there idea makes i couple very good irons i love my idea pro golds. i had mizuno's and loved them and where i work taylor made burners are very hot right now

  2. I believe the Golf Channel response is correct in stating that Tiger uses Nike SQ Tour 7.5° w/ Mitsubishi Diamana Whiteboard Shaft

3 Wood, Nike SQ II 15° w Mitsubishi Diamana Blueboard etc.

Titleist explains a little about their clubs in thes demos here online, you should check them out, they were pretty useful in helping me decide.

  3. tiger hits Nike forged blade irons.  no they are not for a 10 handicap.  ap2s are for better players.   it all depends on what a player is looking for... but on the overall whole.... titleist makes very good golf clubs.  high quality.

  4. Titleist make incredible irons for the better player.  Unless you are a really good ball-striker it may be better to go for the Titleist AP-1s which are a bit more forgiving.

Although blades look awesome and are the sweetest thing when you get it right, the margin for error is so small that they aren't worthwhile unless you are a very low single figure handicap.  Many of the pro's don't even put them into play; Harrington just won The Open using a set of clubs aimed at the mid-handicapper (Wilson Ci7), showing that consistency is far better.

  5. I've been playing golf for 30 years and still can't hit the golf ball consistently in the screws.  Bladed clubs are not forgiving, slightly off center and you loose 20 yards.  I hit oversize pings "big sweet spot" and shoot in the 70's.  If I could putt like the pro's it could be even lower.  When they are putting only 26 times in 18 holes that's incredible.  10 feet putts to pro's are like 2 feet putts to us.  Try some blades before you waste your money.

  6. Hello. I am about a 7 handicap and I just got a set of AP 2's with the project x shafts.  These clubs feel exceptionally solid at impact.  I love the shape of the club head and the weight distribution that only titleist can offer.  If you have ever played titleist irons before, these will be a great upgrade to your bag.  I didn't know if I would be able to hit a forged iron, but I can and they feel awesome.  If you are looking for a great all around club that allows you to work the ball while providing forgiveness, this is the club for you.

  7. Don't know what Tiger hits and don't particularly care because he is in a class where I have not been and will never reach. Titleist clubs are very good as are those of all the other leading brands. The selection comes down to how good the club feels, if it has the proper weight for your swing speed, its appearance at address, and the response to your senses when the shot has been properly played. You must also develop confidence in the clubs or no good will come from them.

  8. According the Golf Channel Tiger Plays The following:

Driver: Nike SQ Tour 7.5° w/ Mitsubishi Diamana Whiteboard Shaft

3 Wood: Nike SQ II 15° w Mitsubishi Diamana Blueboard

5 Wood: Nike SQ II 19°

Irons (3-PW): Nike Blades with True Temper Dynamic Gold X-100

Wedge (SW): Nike Pro Combo 56°

    Wedge (LW): Nike VR 60°

Putter:  Scotty Cameron by Titleist TW prototype

Ball: Nike One Platinum (labeled with “Tiger”)

About the AP2 irons, here are two links with their review:

  9. 10 handicap would probably be better off with a set of AP1s
