Question:

Titles that have been turned from dealer to dealer with the name of the first dealer in front can it be fixed

the title is from new mexico, on the back it has been signed over from dealer to dealer but the name of the first dealer is on the front of the title the last dealership on the title is not in operation anymore can the title be fixed at all?

  1. The only thing you can do is ask the first dealer on the title, if they could apply for a duplicate title from the NM DMV.  Since their name is on the front they are the last registered owner in the computer database, and they can say the title was lost and need a duplicate.

    Most dealers will do this because if you abandon the car and it comes back to them, they will be on the hook for numerous fees.  They probably will charge you a fee for the title and their time, but it is worth it to get out from under this.  Besides the way I described to get it done, there is no other way and the car is basically scrap.  Good Luck.
