Tito Ortiz: Jon Jones vs. Rashad Evans is going to be big – UFC News
Tito Ortiz, former UFC champion, spoke about Jon Jones vs. Rashad Evans declaring the fight as the biggest UFC event since his bout against Chuck Liddell. Rashad Evans will be taking on Jon Jones on April 21 for the light-heavyweight title.
According to Ortiz, the fight is big not just because of the title that is online but because of the enmity and bitterness both fighters share. Jon Jones and Evans were once best friends, team-mates and colleagues. However, their friendship came to an end
since both fighters became famous in the ring. Since then, they have always craved on fighting each other, and probably this is their moment.
Between the two, Evans has been bitterer towards Jones calling him a mentally disturbed person. According to Ortiz, this fight has a lot in similar to the fight that happened between him and Chuck Liddell. Ortiz describes the fight as the biggest UFC event
for 2012.
In his recent interview, the former champion said, “History is going to be made, this fight is the biggest fight since me and Chuck Liddell. The fans want to see it, the hype has built for it, and I think the UFC has timed this fight perfectly.  But Jon
Jones is a phenomenal athlete, and I see him retaining his world title.”
In his previous interview, Rashad Evans spoke about Jon Jones’ mental health. He said, “I know the real Jon, the nervous kid who would ask me to tell him how to dress, how to talk, and how to fight. I know how he reacts when things don’t go his way, how
he can’t handle it mentally. And I’ve been through these types of pressure fights.”
Evans added that he has been in such situations, which is why he knows how to handle them but Jones will fall to it. Probably Rashad was right since the fight has gained immense hype and the pressure on both the fighters will a lot. If Evans is right about
Jones then this will be the day when Jones will have to give it all up, his title and his honour.
