Tito Ortiz feels ditched by Jon Jones – UFC News
Like many others, even Hall of Famer UFC fighter Tito Ortiz feels ‘backstabbed’ by UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. The former light heavyweight titlist was hurt by Jones’ remarks in a recent interview regarding his career.
Ortiz, who stood up for Jones when everyone else deserted him, was surprised to know the latter thinks low of him.
“I do everything they ask me to do, I really do, and you know, it really hurt man, it hurt to be on the different spectrum, to be compared to Tito Ortiz. I don't complain about money, I don't complain about anything, I do what I'm told,” said Jones in an
interview with Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.
In other words, Jones asserted that Ortiz never fought for the company but himself. Of course, Ortiz, who recently retired from the sport, felt hurt, revealing that he always fought and put his life on the line for the organisation and fans. Moreover, Jones’
comments compelled Ortiz to talk about the recently cancelled UFC 151 card.
“Well check it out, the situation happened with 151. He was supposed to fight Chael. Well, actually he was supposed to fight Dan Henderson. He gets hurt the week before the fight, then they say you're going to fight Chael and he said no way and caught a
bunch of flack from it,” said Ortiz.
Unfortunately, Jones has made yet another enemy for himself in the industry. Ortiz was the person who stood up for Jones during his recent DUI charges case. In fact, before his retirement, Ortiz asserted time and again that he sees Jones as the next ‘him’.
Now, after such harsh remarks form Jones, Ortiz finds himself on the opposite end. Jones has already received enough criticism from his fellow fighters, fans and UFC officials and now it is Ortiz who is blaming him for the downfall of UFC 151.
It seems like Jones is going nowhere with his attitude. He felt hurt with White’s comments but he should not have disappointed others by trash-talking. At this point in time, Jones should be making friends not enemies.
