Tito Ortiz for Jon Jones: I think he is the next best great thing – UFC News
Former UFC fighter and the recently Hall of Famer inductee Tito Ortiz is upset with Jon Jones comments. In a recent interview with MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani, Jon Jones came up saying he is better than Ortiz, as he gives the organisation whatever they
ask for.
Of course, Jones’ comments were not as direct, yet they hinted towards the same. According to Jones, he has always been there for the fans and the organisation, putting his heart and soul to the shows unlike Ortiz.
While Jones thought it was fine to use such remarks for the all time best UFC fighter Ortiz, the latter considered them disrespectful. During his recent interview, Ortiz recalled how he stood up for Jones when everyone else abandoned him.
“All of the fighters said he isn't a true fighter and nobody has ever done this before and, it's crazy, I thought it was crazy,” said Ortiz. “And I stood up for the kid. I like Jon Jones. I think he's a great champion. I think he's a great guy.”
Ortiz revealed he always had faith in Jones’ capabilities, claiming he would be the next big thing in the UFC.
“I hung out with him in Vegas and I really took a liking to the kid because he's, I think he's the next best great thing. Then, all of a sudden, I heard an interview from him saying, 'People need to stop comparing me to Tito Ortiz because I don't talk about
money,'” added the former light heavyweight champion.
Ortiz evens supported Jones during his recent DUI charges case. Now, the Hall of Famer feels upset and dejected by Jones’ remarks. Ortiz is in rage and he is now blaming Jones for the cancellation of the UFC 151 card, like everyone else.
In other words, Jones, who was already being pin-pointed by the majority, has made yet another foe in the industry. Unfortunately, it seems like Jones is out of luck these days. Instead of creating sweet relationships, the light heavyweight champion is moving
towards his brand’s destruction by creating foes within the business, which of course is not a very smooth approach.
