Tito Ortiz’s Hall of Fame induction confirmed by the UFC – UFC News
The Ultimate Fighting Championship organisation has finally confirmed Tito Ortiz’s Hall of Fame induction to be held on July 7. Ortiz will fight his career’s last bout against long time rival Forrest Griffin before the induction ceremony.
Despite the bitterness UFC President Dana White shares with Tito Ortiz, he has appreciated Ortiz’s career. White has been talking Ortiz’s induction to the Hall of Fame for quite some time and now finally the organisation has officially confirmed it.
“It is a huge honor to be recognized as one of the greatest fighters of all time by the UFC,” said Ortiz after learning about it. He added, “To be inducted into the Hall of Fame is final proof that all the hard work and dedication, all the pain and sacrifices, were all worth it. To be able to walk to the Octagon one last time as an official UFC Hall of Fame level fighter is going to be humbling and awesome. I’m very grateful to have this opportunity to end my career on such a high like this.”
The Hall of Fame ceremony will be held on July 7 at the UFC Fan Expo, after Ortiz takes on Forrest Griffin at the UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II.
Ortiz acknowledged the support and love from his family and fans throughout his 15 years in the UFC. He revealed that there were time when he did not feel like competing anymore but the love and support from his fans and family brought him back on the track. He then mentioned Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta as people who gave him the opportunity to achieve his goals and securing his future in the UFC.
On the other hand, White said that most people know his and Ortiz’s story and the disputes that have occurred between them. However, White said that whatever happened was part of the story and there is no doubt about the fact that Ortiz was a great athlete in his prime.
Tito Ortiz is one of the most prominent UFC fighters of all time and the longest reigning longest-reigning light heavyweight champion of all time.
