The Spanish goal scorer made a comeback after breaking his tibia, and the new coach, Tito Vilanova, believes that Barcelona are incomplete without him.
Last season Barcelona lost the Champions League and the Spanish La Liga because their main striker and defender were both out injured.
While Eric Abidal was diagnosed with liver cancer and had to take a break because of an operation, David Villa had to rest because he broke his tibia during the FIFA Club World Cup.
Barcelona were playing in the Club World Cup during December and it was David Villa who broke his tibia and did not play a single game throughout the last season.
Villa’s injury also kept him out of international footballing action.

However, now Villa has finally returned to first-team football.
Barcelona played Dinamo Bucharest in a pre-season friendly game and David Villa marked his return by coming in during the 73rd minute.

"Last year we missed him [Villa] because he's a player that guarantees goals. He's very necessary to the side.”
"I spoke with the doctors and the physios before playing him against Dinamo. It is very important for us to recover players, especially if they are well-loved like Villa is."
