Pep Guardiola’s replacement at the Camp Nou was confident ahead of Barcelona’s Spanish Super Cup first leg matchup against Real Madrid.
Jose Mourinho upped the antics with his off field manoeuvres. The media handling of the Special One worked as he got response from his opposing number. Tito Vilanova gave firm responses to Mourinho’s jibes at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
In a lengthy meeting with press representatives, Jose Mourinho shared his thoughts on the upcoming Spanish Super Cup.
The Real Madrid head coach remarked that the customary competition between La Liga winners and Copa del Rey holders is low on his priority. The Portuguese stated that he would rather concentrate on the Primera Division fixtures than the clash with Barcelona
in the Super Cup.
Vilanova distanced himself from the thoughts of the eccentric tactician, commenting that Mourinho has every right to think what he wants, but he does not have a similar view. He hailed Barcelona and their quest for adding silverware to their trophy cabinet
at the Camp Nou.
The new coach pointed towards La Blaugrana’s impressive haul of 14 titles from a possible total of 19, adding that Barcelona will be remembered forever. He reflected that the current crop of players have etched their marks in the laurels of history with
their playing style, a feat no one can steal from them.
"You can think what he wants. This team has done amazing things, has won 14 of 19 titles, has won two Champions ... if not hegemony but are many titles. This team will be remembered for the way he played. Will be remembered forever. "
He stated that the Spanish Super Cup is a trophy just every other piece of silverware they are after: "I think a title is a title, nothing else."
However, Tito admitted that winning the competition will not have any impact on La Liga title race. He refused to dive into such suggestions, pointing towards the long campaign that stands ahead of them in Spanish top flight domestic league.
"To think that the winner of this game will be better the rest of the season is too hasty."
"We must respect all opinions. Know how hard it is to get all this."
