The Catalan coach, who is currently suffering from cancer, has come out in the open and claimed that he wants to continue as the first-team coach for La Blaugrana, despite the sickness.
Barcelona, this season, were going strong in all the competitions that they were a part of. They are currently leading the Spanish La Liga points table, thanks to an extremely strong squad that was available to play during the start of the season.
However, as the season progressed, there were several injures which led to Barcelona losing one game after another. But one injury that hurt Barcelona the most was of their manager, Tito Vilanova, who was diagnosed with cancer right in the middle of the
season.
The Catalan coach had to withdraw as coach and had to get attended at a hospital, leaving the assistant manager, Roura, in charge of the whole team. Though Roura got the team going in the Spanish La Liga, he just could not lift their morale in both the cup
competitions, the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League.
First the Catalan giants lost in the Copa del Rey, and after picking up several injuries during the time Roura was in charge, La Blaugrana had to face Bayern Munich in the semi-final stage of the UEFA Champions League.
Although this tie saw Tito Vilanova returning to the touch line, a few injuries to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 cost them the first leg of the important semi-final tie. With Messi playing in an injury, and with Bartra as the first-team
centre-back, La Blaugrana conceded four goals against the German giants and now it is extremely difficult for them to make a come-back into this game.
Despite such a humiliating defeat, Vilanova has recently concluded that he is not willing to let go of La Blaugrana just yet.
“But every day I feel better. I have wanted to train and be in this newsroom.”
“There was a problem with the distance when I was away.”
“In New York I tried to help each day, even though I wasn’t in direct contact with the players, thanks to new technologies [online video messaging].”
“Regarding my continuity, I feel strong and I am eager to continue for next season.”
“At no time have I considered quitting. When I have two days off I am bored. This is my life and I do not feel any pressure.”
