Yegor Titov has questioned the Russian Premier League club’s credibility after they surrendered against the underdogs, FC Rostov, at Olimp 2 stadium on Tuesday
Spartak Moscow suffered a shock Russian Cup exit at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Rostov-c39192 after a penalty shoot-out at the Olimp 2 stadium on Tuesday.
The enthralling encounter went down to extra time after the Red-Whites failed to make a breakthrough until the regulatory time. However, the extra 30 minutes prove less fruitful for the Muscovites as the Selmashi hold on for spot-kicks.
Rostov managed to defeat the Myaso despite being several places beneath Spartak in the Russian Premier League, where they have not win any game since their 3-1 win over Astrakhan in September.
It is certainly a wakeup call of the Moscow-based club, who were knocked out of the competition in the round-of-16 by Volga Nizhny Novgorod last year, as they failed to reach the quarter-finals of the tournament for the second
time in two years.
Unai Emery, who made a host of changes to his side following their 2-0 win in the Russian Premier League against Mordovia Saransk at Luzhniki stadium at the weekend, was left frustrated with his side’s questionable performance.
Yegor Titov has blasted Spartak for their questionable display against the Selmashi, insisting that the Moscow-based club need to improve. The former Muscovite urged the People’s team to get back on track after their shocking exit
from the tournament.
“Shootout is all about psychological state of the team. I went through something similar in the past. However, it is difficult to compare this match with our dramatic loss in Glasgow. I heard a terrible roar from the stands. I
came to the point where I did not know what to do. In these situations one can hardly control his nerves.” The former FC Khimki player was quoted as saying.
Titov went on to urge his former club to work harder in order to reclaim a place in the next round of the UEFA Champions League, saying that they can turn the tables despite having a slow start to the European tournament.
