Titus Bramble arrestedSunderland central defender Titus Bramble was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning on suspicion of raping a girl in her early twenties.The Sunderland defender and his brother Tesfaye Bramble were arrested in connection with rape allegations. The incident took place in a room at the Vermont Hotel in Newcastle and the two men are being questioned by detectives.A spokesman for the Northumbria police said that "the two men had been arrested on suspicion of rape." Titus Bramble is an ex under-20 England international and joined Sunderland this season having moved from Wigan Athletic. He has also played for Newcastle United and Ipswich Town.Titus Bramble’s brother Tesfaye has most recently played for Felixstowe and Walton United. However, he has also played in the football league with Stockport County and Southend United as well as playing international football for Montserrat.Titus Bramble was signed by Sunderland manager Steve Bruce during the summer for an undisclosed fee on a three year contract. The 29 year old has been a regular for Sunderland in the Premier League this season and if found guilty of the charges Bramble may face expulsion from the club.Bruce has been an avid fan of Bramble and worked with him while at Wigan Athletic before taking the central defender to Sunderland. The manager will have to stick by his new signing until the allegations have been proven.Marlon King was sacked by Wigan Athletic while on loan at Hull after assaulting a woman. He was given a prison sentence and has only recently returned to football with Coventry City. Sunderland and Bruce may be forced to take a similar stance with Bramble who if found guilty will most likely receive a prison sentence that could put his future career in doubt.
