Tivo to control volume?

can the series 2 tivo control volume? Tivo doesn't have the code for my TV or surround sound. I hate using 3 remotes.

Yes, TiVo remotes can often control many different brands of TV.  What brand of TV do you have?  You should try all codes associated with the brand.

Another option is to get a Harmony remote from Logitech or some other models of universal or programmable remote.

I have a Harmony 880 remote.  Of all the different brands and models I tried, I found that the Web configuration of the remote to be convenient.  The best part is that my wife and my baby sitter could figure out how to use the "Help" to step through switching devices on and off when the automatic switching didn't work.  And you typically don't have to switch between devices.

my 2 tivo controls the sound on my Sony.  Maybe it was in the initial tivo set up, but it works for me.  Go back into the tive.  Good hunting.

On your series 2 TiVo Press the TiVo button, then highlight and select "Messages & Setup", then"Recorder & Phone Setup", then "Remote Setup" and follow the prompts.
