Tiwary will get his opportunity says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447 – Cricket News Update
Gautam Gambhir, the former vice-captain, feels that talking about individuals might not be the right thing at the moment following his team’s humiliating defeat in the second ODI against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Manoj-Tiwary-c1890, will get his opportunity to shine.
The Men in Blue fell prey to their own undoing with some inexplicable batting display at Hambontota, giving rise to a debate as to whether play http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RG-Sharma-c2309 or Manoj Tiwary, both of whom are vying for the no.5th spot in the national team.
Sharma’s poor performances in the opening two games have not helped his cause. His 5 in the first match went unnoticed as the Men in Blue posted in excess of 300, consequently winning by 21 runs. The next game saw the visitors being routed for a low score of 138, with the 25-year-old managing a five-ball duck.
Such poor showings have brought Tiwary into contention, whose last appearance came during the home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in December last year, where he scored his maiden century. However, opportunities have been rare for the 26-year-old this term, sitting out 13 straight games while watching Sharma averaging a lowly 17.33 in 2012.
Gambhir, who is Tiwary’s teammate and captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders, gave a usual IPL-toned interview, asserting that ‘ultimately it is not about individuals’. He however, added that Tiwary will get his chance somewhere down the line and the most important thing for the player is to stay focus and grab the opportunity whenever it gets presented to him.
"It is not about individuals and I don't want to talk about individuals, about how http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Manoj-c1888 is feeling," Gambhir said. "How the team is doing is all that matters. Somewhere down the line, he will get an opportunity."
"Whenever Manoj gets that opportunity, he should be looking forward to it and he should do well in that opportunity. Whether he gets it in the next game, whether he gets it in the next series, no one knows."
For now, it seems that the management is willing to give Sharma an extended run in the team. With the five-match series tied at one a piece, the third ODI now remains all important for both teams, as well as for certain individuals.
