Tizway ready mentally and physically for the Breeders’ Cup Classic as he turns in a massive mile at Belmont Park
The six-year-old son of Tiznow, Tizway got shipped from his barn at Saratoga to Belmont Park where the James Bond trained runner turned in a great workout of a mile on 12 October, 2011, as he fired a bullet covering the 1 mile distance in 1 minute and 38.47 seconds over the Belmont Park main track.
Tizway after missing the Jockey Club Gold Cup on 1 October is now preparing for his ultimate goal of the season, Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Classic.
James Bond was ecstatic after Tizway’s tremendous workout, where he dished out a great gallop and the best part of the run was that he did it with ease and no even breathing hard, which means Tizway is back to his best and ready for Breeders’ Cup Classic.
Out of Bethany by Dayjur, Tizway this year started off with two 3rd places finishes and then picked it up in the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap (Met Mile) at Belmont Park and then with an amazing turn of foot in the Grade 1 Whitney Handicap, helped him defeat the likes of Flat Out and Giant Oak at Saratoga.
Tizway usually before a race stays Saratoga in his bar and trains over the Oklahoma training track, where he turns in his workouts but this time around James Bond wanted Tizway to go a mile at Belmont Park.
The Belmont Park track is faster than the Oklahoma track, and Bond said he had made up his mind that he wanted to get a good mile out of Tizway.
Tizway will be participating in one of the richest races, and it goes at about 1 ¼ miles, and a mile workout before the race would show Tizway’s connections where he stands physically.
Tizway’s father Tiznow was the two time winner of the Breeders’ Cup Classic, and his son would be looking to follow in his footsteps.
Tizway will overlook everything else and concentrate on the Classic, which will be his first start in all of three months, but his trainer is confident that he runs well after huge layoffs and would be hoping that will be the case when he runs in the Classic this November.
