Out of Bethany by Dayjur, Tizway started off slow in the 2011 season, as he kicked off the season with a third place finish in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Handicap at Gulfstream Park under jockey Rajiv Maragh.

The Grade 3 Charles Town Classic on dirt was Tizway’s second start of the season, but this time a longer stretch was to be considered, 1 1/8 miles to be precise.
Rajiv Maragh, has been Tizway’s regular jockey for a long time now, and he took the responsibility yet again, and was able to finish on the money at Charles Town racecourse.
Tizway picked up his game in the next two races of this season, with a same pattern of races in terms of distance. 1 mile long Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap at Belmont Park on 30 May, 2011, was when things took a different turn for Tizway.
