Tizzard team hopes for Golden Chieftain’s success on Saturday
The star trainer, Colin Tizzard, and his stable jockey, Joe Tizzard, hope that their commercial icon, Golden Chieftain, will be able to win the Saturday’s Badger Ales Trophy Handicap Chase convincingly by outplaying 16 competitors at Wincanton racecourse.
The high-profile Class 1 contest is scheduled to go over the distance of 3 miles, 1 furlong and 110 yards with the surface being good to soft.
Golden Chieftain is coming straight from the ace title of the Richard Davis Memorial Handicap Chase that he accomplished at Worcester on October 24.
Joe Tizzard, who has been on the Irish horse’s back on various big occasions, claims that the young runner will make a big impact on November 10. He has also applauded the gelding for what he did at Worcester.
While speaking to the media, the skilled rider said, “He seriously impressed me when winning at Worcester last time out and although his handicap mark has risen and mirrors his hurdling ranking, the focus is on jumping.”
Tizzard and Golden Chieftain has good rapport. The duo has achieved some iconic feats together.
The gelding possesses an epic track record that shows 6 triumphs off 19 starts. Debuting in November 2009, the Brocade Racing owned sprinter broke his maiden in November 2010 by winning Kilsby And Williams Novices' Hurdle.
2011 had been a successful season for him as he bagged three marvellous victories. On February 13, he Molson Coors "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle (Div II) at Exeter. That was followed by the title of Totescoop6 Handicap Hurdle.
Golden Chieftain wrapped up the season by finishing first in Direct Telecoms Beginners' Chase on November 24.
Since the dawn of the calendar year, the son of Tikkanen out of Golden Flower has been performing well. On March 8, he tasted the title of Bathwick Tyres Bridgwater Novices' Chase at Wincanton before making mark at Worcester.
The maverick horse will participate in Saturday’s contest with high spirit and sheer form. His fans are anxious to watch him in action after a couple of weeks.
The trainer has prepared Golden Chieftain well so that he comes up to all the expectations pinned with him.
