Tj maxx return policy for items without a receipt?

i bought an item from their store but lost the receipt. i want to return it and i know that i will get store credit back since i don't have the receipt for it but if the item's price went down or went on clearance, would i get back what i paid for or would i get the sale's price back? also, will they need to check my id since i don't have the receipt for my item? thanks!
