Tjasa Vozel and Loris Facci outperform in swimming events: Day two – 2011 Austrian SC Nationals
Tjasa Vozel of Slovenia and Loris Facci outshined their competitors and won gold medals of 200m breast-stroke in Women's and Men's category, respectively on second day of the 2011 Austrian Short Course Nationals in Vienna New Town, on Saturday, November
26.
The session conducted final rounds of 200m breast-stroke, 50m butterfly and 100m freestyle in Men's and Women's category.
The 17-year-old Vozel acquired gold medal of the Women's 200m breast-stroke by posting a time of 2 minutes and 26.83 seconds. She was followed by Buse Gunaydin of Turkey, who reached the podium for second spot by producing a time of 2 minutes and 27.65 seconds.
The third spot of the race was secured by Sandra Swierczewska of Austria, who remained almost one second slower from her former finisher and ended her swim in a time of 2 minutes and 28.53 seconds.
Next was the equivalent event in Men's category, where 27-year-old Facci snatched gold medal by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 13.53 seconds.
The gold medallist was trailed by Moises Daniel Loschi of Italy, who remained 1.92 seconds away and hit the concluding wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 15.45 seconds for silver medal.
Loschi was followed by Johannes Dietrich, who was 0.58 seconds slower and stepped on the podium for bronze medal with an effort of 2 minutes and 16.03 seconds.
Next was the Women's 50m butterfly final, where Triin Aljand of Estonia occupied the crown with a wonderful timing of 25.89 seconds. She was chased by Lisa Zaiser of Austria, who remained 1.11 seconds behind and touched the wall with the timing of 27.00
seconds for silver medal.
The 17-year-old Zaiser remained 0.20 seconds ahead of Fabienne Nadarajah of Austria, who settled on the podium for bronze medal with the timing of 27.20 seconds.
Moments later, Peter Mankoc of Slovenia captured gold medal of Men's 50m butterfly. The 33-year-old Mankoc clocked a timing of 24.19 seconds for gold medal. He remained 0.15 seconds ahead of Martin Spitzer of Austria, who reported a time of 24.34 seconds
for second position.
Spitzer was just 0.01 seconds ahead of Michal Ledl of Czech, who secured bronze medal with an effort of 24.35 seconds.
After a while, Erica Buratto of Italy acquired gold medal of Women's 100m freestyle by clocking a wonderful time of 54.80 seconds. The 27-year-old Buratto was 0.59 seconds away from Laura Letrari of Italy, who ended her swim in a time of 55.39 seconds for
silver medal.
The 22-year-old Letrari remained 0.05 seconds ahead of Aljand, who completed her swim in a third fastest time of 55.44 seconds.
The arena appreciated ruthless efforts of all podium finishers while the winners received their awards at the medal ceremony of the championship.
