I have to be put to sleep in order to have work done on my mouth for complicated reasons and I want to go to school the next day because it's my first day! I have been put to sleep before but I don't really remember it so I have a couple questions!

1. How long does it take for the bleeding to stop?

2. How did you feel the next day?

3. Were you able to do things afterward like the next day?

  1. This all depends on what you're having done.  If you have impacted wisdom teeth, you will be swollen and might not feel up to going to school.

The bleeding usually stops that evening, and that same day you feel fine once you wake up.  You might need one nap after, but other than that, most people are fine.

If you get something complicated done, you will feel pain for a couple of days, and feel drowsy if you take certain types of medication, otherwise you will feel well enough to be up and about.  I would just recommend taking it easy the rest of the day after your procedure.

  2. 1.  It took me a few hours before it finally clotted

2 and 3.  You will be too groggy and tired to do much of anything.

  3. It depends on several factors.

Are they going to give you gas or an IV.  If they put you to sleep using IV medication, you are going to be out of it most of the day, and possibly the next day as well.

If they give you gas you can probably do things the next day.  I was able to get up that evening and continue life as normal so to speak.

The bleeding will stop instantlly as tne dentist will either cauterize, or suture or hold pressure until the bleeding stops.

  4. 1. Bleeding should stop that day if your blood clots normally. No smoking, chewing, sucking through a straw or anything though. Besides air pockets if your having a tooth removed it will also pro long the healing period.

    2. I felt normal but tired the next day. Not from the procedure but from the pain meds.

3.I did all my normal duties the following day. But I found time to nap.
