  1. i jump him every other day and  i usually go about 3.2

  2. My current horse only does cavellettis, her legs are still growing shes 4.

I jump a chincoteague pony 3 foot daily, a break every three days.

My old horse did courses to 4'5" every day excluding Mondays.

    Depends on their condition.

  3. it doesnt really matter but you can go to smaller to bigger thats the way i learned

  4. well, i only jump my horse once a week if possible.  Sometimes I'll throw in ONE extra day, but if i do it is only a single, very small jump a few times.

Say, on tuesday i have my lesson so i usually do courses, which is alot of jumping since we have to get it right..  then the rest of my rides are just flat work.  Some weeks i'll also jump Saturday if i want to work on something for my lesson, but not usually, and like i said if i do it is much less jumping then i did tuesday.

On show weeks, i jump tuesday, saturday, and sunday.. but that's only once a month at most.

Currently, i was preparing for a show in which i am jumping 18"-2ft courses, so i was jumping 2 foot.  Usually we do 2 foot courses, with maybe one or two 2'3/2'6 jumps put in.  My horse is also older, and we are working more on control and technique then height  (like we all should..)

EDIT: i'm appalled at what other people are saying, if you are jumping that often it should not be over 2' for all but one of the days.  No matter what, there is still LOTS to learn over smaller fences, and you get alot from it.  I hope all your horses are sound in two years (which i doubt) and i hope you (who asked the question) don't listen to them.

Even the top riders don't jump that often.  They get to a point where they know they can and then do it once a week as a tune up.  If you are jumping that often your missing key flatwork elements you have to learn!

  5. i ride my horse 6 days a week.

twice a week i just do little 1'6" - 2' jumps... just to keep things interesting and to keep him well exercised.  also to really just focus on my form.  i only jump the rail like three or four times though.

when i jump him in lessons (once a week)... i jump about 3'6".  and thats when i do my courses... which is a lot of jumping.

  6. In the summer only about 1 time a week...i give my mare a break for the hot summer months! Fall through Spring however I ride her 3-4 times a week and jump 2-3 times a week...I jump everything from 3'3"- 3'6" and under with her...she goes spaso and crazy with anything higher..

  7. I jump every other day...And if its right before a show I jump little cross rails just to get him warmed up...But when there isnt a show I jump him around I dont know 3'2" to around 4' we are working our way up to Grand Prix height.

  8. my mare goes hyper if not jumped alot.

It depends i jump for a few days then stop and do soemthing elese for the next few days and soemtimes i add a quck jump in my flaitwork.

I usally jump her small and big-different height shahaha

  9. My horse is quite young (6years) but he raced until he was 3.  He had no schooling until i bought him 18months ago.  I now jump him about 2'6 and about once a week.  I only jump him about once a week because he gets bored easily as he is young and he keeps his spring better and gets more excited, therefore he doesn't knock any fences down.  In between this i spend lots of time schooling him on the flat.

If you're asking thisquestion to get advice on how high/often to jump your own horse, i would say it ALWAYS depends on the individual horse.  Some do better if you jump every other day at about 2' apart from one day when you may challenge him and put the jump up higher.  It also depends on how easily they get bored and if they keep their spring and interest by jumping them more often.  To keep my riding up, i ride other horses and jump them over higher jumps so that i am still improving even if im not jumping my horse.

    EDIT

Arielle - I cant believe you jump your horse like that.  It's ridiculous.  Read a book would ya!  Read up on horse excercise.
