What injuries have you gotten from dancing? How did you get these injuries, and what did you have to do about them? How do you prevent dance injuries? Just curious.

  1. you want to stretch before you dance, that helps a lot more than people think! I've gotten minor ankle stuff, and just have been really sore, but nothing to serious. It's just from not being precise in jumps or turns. I've had a lot of bruises on my butt from falling, so yeah, that's like it, but stretching will better help you not pulling something

  2. Thank goodness, I've never gotten a serious dance injury, though I have had countless bruises, blisters, and cuts. Also, a lot of bleeding toes from dancing en pointe. I've also pulled a hamstring and had Metatarsalgia. Find out about metatarsalgia. here: http://www.reference.com/search?r=13&q=M...

  3. So far Ive just gotten the "ok...it will heal soon" type of injuries. Like Bruises, Cuts, sprained ankles. I got them by either falling for trying new choreography or unique moves. For not landing right on my foot.

Well.....the only great advice Ive ever gotten to prevent injuries...is to ALWAYS stretch BEFORE and AFTER dancing. And when you bend your knees....make sure your knees are pointing outward the same direction as your foot.....you dont want to pop your knees...I HEARD THAT SUCKS!!!!!

    hope that helped....take care.

  4. lots of cuts a bruses! i once did sprain my wrist i feel! but i would say just strech  ALOT! before and after!

  5. there r many different possible injuries, but one that i have gotten mostly is twisting my ankle, just from doing turns or jumps and then landing the wrong way.

  6. oh goodness so many!

but luckily i have never gotten anything serious.

it really just depends on the dancer.

you need to really make sure you are ready to dance every time. i.e. warm-up.

that is key to preventing injury. stretching and never just jumping into a class or rehearsal.

that is how i prevent stupid injures like pulling or straining something. otherwise just be careful.  know when you have hurt something and don't push it till you have taken care of it to prevent even more damaging injuries.

ice when needed. take care of your body. dancers kill there bodies daily. so take care, and injuries will be less.

    hope this helps!

  7. Well i'm on dance team... and i had a just had a high sprian in TENNIS

ya have to be careful            2 all sports

i pushed myself too far and now i think i've screwed it up

so if injured... TAKE A LOT OF TIME OFF

    ;)

  8. i have gotten the normal injurys(blisters bruises cuts etc) ive also twisted my ankle trying to land a triple pirouette and pulled a hamstring cause i didnt streach.

  9. I broke my nose. My partner elbowed me during a very intricate turn pattern.  There was no way I could've prevented that.

I also fractured my foot during an attempt to perform a trick slide. The only way that I could've prevented that one was by not doing it. lol  I had to be on a boot for 6 weeks.

  10. i bent the bone in my wrist when i did a high side kick  i think my standing leg just went  so i landed on my wrist it was in cast for 4 weeks i have hurt toes and minor things like that aswell sore feet excetera just make sure your feet get time to relax like a foot bath

  11. Lets see, bruises, a sprianed ankle and Bursitis in both knees. Bursitis hurts alot. I Got it from doing plies' and grande plies'. Also overworking myself. I was getting ready for competition and was working myself to death. I had to take an Antibiotic, Ice it and now I have to take Ibprophan 800 for ever because It will always act up now. How to prevent it, drink water, strech really well Do over work yourself, stretch after class.

  12. if doing ballet always plie` before jumping off the floor or else you WILL have bad knees. trust me i have been told this a gazillion times.
