When you call ahead to restaurants like Outback and use their call ahead service for takeout, how much should you tip?? I never know cause it's not like they served you the whole meal but I have always tipped well. So how much should you tip?

  1. I usually tip 10%

  2. I rarely tip those who take my order. I mean you may be giving a tip to just some person who went in the back and got your meal. With to-go orders, there is no checking on the customer or refilling drinks, it's one trip into the kitchen and then another one to deliver it to you.

  3. read my post on server ettiquette it will tell u what to do. I know it will help.

  4. I tip 10%.  They still took the time to put the order together and make sure it's right.  Especially if you order from the same place alot and they know you tip, they will look out for you and make sure you get extra napkins, etc.

I usually tip 20% when I dine in, but I do agree that the takeout person doesn't do as much work for you, but they still deserve a little something.

  5. 15-20% is what i tip

  6. Tipping 10 - 15% is appropriate, even if they're just bringing the food to you and you're taking it home.

Fact is, they still have to pay taxes on the sale. Having worked in the industry, I would tip 15 - 20% since there are a number of restaurants that require the servers to tip out the bussers, etc.

In general, however, I would say that (depending on your level of comfort) 10 - 20% is fine.

  7. 10-15% is appropriate for to-go orders.
