To Honor And Serve aims to prevail in the Suburban Handicap at Belmont Park
The cream of the older division will compete in the Grade 2 Suburban Handicap at Belmont Park on 7th July, 2012, which will be run for the 127th time this year.
Running over a distance of 1 1/8 miles, the runners will compete in the $350,000 event with the hope of earning the prize in one of America’s older races.
The Bill Mott trained, To Honor And Serve is entering with the highest weights of 120 pounds, and speculation is attached to his performance today.
The four-year-old will be taking on a larger distance than he is used to, as Bill Mott told the media that:
"He's extremely good at a mile, but he's classy enough to get 1 1/8 miles."
Bernardini’s son has landed two consecutive victories over a mile. One in the Grade 3 Westchester Stakes on 28th April, 2012, at Belmont Park, and the second in the Grade 1 Cigar Mile Stakes at Aqueduct race track to cap off
the 2011 season.
In the Suburban Handicap, the colt will ride under jockey, Jose Lezcano, and will make his entry from post number 8.
The star-studded line-up also includes Todd Pletcher’s charge, Stay Thirsty, who is entering with weights of 117. He will ride in the capable hands of rider, Javier Castellano, and will break from post number 2.
Owned by Mike Repole, the four-year-old will take on the track, and bring out his best in order to tackle Trickmeister, who will be competing today, and will be teamed with jockey, Ramon A. Dominguez.
The two battled it out in the Vanlandingham Stakes at Belmont Park on 17th
May, 2012, over 1 1/16 miles, and it was Trickmeister, who came out on top and completed the race in an impressive time of 1 minute and 39.86 seconds.
It will be interesting to see the older division compete in this race, the highest level of competition will be brought out when these runners race. Endorsement, Caixa Eletronica, Buffum, and Mucho Macho Man will also run in the Suburban.
