  1. Depression Era, so around 1930. (In the book, Scout recalls hearing the famous 'we have nothing to fear but fear itself' quote) The setting is the south, where racism was still the predominant way of regarding anyone who wasn't white.

    A brief summary:

Scout a young girl living in the south during the great depression, and her brother Jem are the children of Atticus, a local lawyer. Atticus has to defend a black man. The man is obviously innocent of the rape he was accused of, but because of the pedicure against his color, the trial is going badly. Although Atticus is honest and wants to be fair to the man, the rest of the town disagrees and there is some hostility towards him and his children. In the end, Atticus loses the trial but wins respect from both his community and his children.

    hope that helps.

  2. Do your own homework, To Kill a Mockingbird is an amazing book.

  3. didnt like it either but scout and her brother and dill are trying to find out whats going on during there summer and at the end they end up being chased by this guy and he falls on a knife and kills himself late 1800's early 1900's have fun!...HOPE THAT HELPS!!!

  4. I have never read the book but it was one of the best movies I ever saw. Might I suggest that you watch it since it would probably be clearer than the book and might help your understanding. I'm sure that Netflix or Blockbuster has it.

  5. hi:] yeah i read this book freshman year and fortunately i liked it but that was probably just because i had a great teacher
