Question:

To Kill A Mockingbird Report (Question 2)?

I asked a question about what I wanted to write about in my "To Kill A Mockingbird" report earlier. And, I figured out what I wanted to write about. I want to write about all the things Boo Radley did to be nice to Scout and Jem. Like, putting presents in the tree and mending Jem's pants. And I also have to write another paragraph about how it effected the story. I think it effected the story because Scout and Jem learned from it. What I mean by that is, they grew up. Because they used to be innocent and were afraid of Boo. But then, they grew up and learned what it was like from Boo's perspective.

I'm pretty sure that's right. But if it's not, tell me please. And my question is, I know what I want to write about, but I don't know how to make 2 paragraphs out of that. And also, I can't figure out how to put it into better words. Please give me all the help you can.

And, if it helps any, here is my previous question:

  1. Your thinking is correct.  It also taught them to not judge people and to accept people for who they are.  It taught them that all people deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

There are numerous on line resources to help you with this novel, and with questions such as this one.  Many of them offer chapter summaries, list of characters, character sketches, discussions of themes, setting, imagery, and symbolism, etc.  Do a search for “study guides for To Kill a Mockingbird” etc., and you will find many sites.  Also, do a search here on yahoo answers for To Kill a Mockingbird and you will find a wealth of information.

  2. I just did this report a couple years ago

Scout and Jem learned that Boo Radley was just like them too. He was no different and they were only scared of him because of the rumours.

You are right about your theory too!

  3. Effect is a noun, not a verb.

Use "affect" instead. That's a start.

  4. Don't forget about Boo's ultimate act of kindness--coming out of seclusion to save Scout and Jem when Bob Ewell attacks them.

Perhaps you can focus on Jem and Scout's perceptions about Boo Radley, and how they change throughout the course of the novel.  The Boo Radley that they speculate about at the beginning of the novel is quite different from the actual Boo Radley they finally meet.  Their experiences with Boo Radley, as well as their experiences watching the Tom Robinson trial (and the tragic outcome) cause them to reflect about prejudice, compassion, and (in Atticus's words) how "you never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view — until you climb around in his skin and walk around in it."

Scout's encounter with Boo Radley causes her to do just that.

  5. It also kind of goes with the old saying "don't judge a book by it's cover"... To take up more space in your report use actual examples from the book that prove your point.
