  1. both those people won't even be traded...they shuld get a reliever or 2

  2. I wouldn't be disappointed at all.

We have a great team, just putting things together have been rough. However if you look at it, we are in better standing now than at last years All-Star game, and we are perennially a second half team. Being able to put the NL East away by August's end would be great, but we have to be realistic. The amount of pleyers/money/prospects we would have to give up for Halladay or Holliday is absurd. With a team that is currently in first, why break apart what you have? Granted they are great players but I don't see the need to get a game breaker. The Phillies need a small time player who can give big time results. Example being another solid bulpen lefty. That or a 3B that can hit for average.

Like I said, if they don't make a move, oh well. They are definitely in contention for the East again, and wasting pospects on a big name player doesn't always help.

  3. I do not think the Phillies need to make the big splash with a big name right now, they need to shore up the bullpen with a few small moves, they do not have enough to Halladay from the Jays, especially with him on the "Do not trade" list.  The Rockies on the other hand are asking a price that no one will pay for Holliday, if the Phils can swing Holliday and Fuentes for some prospects and Adam Eaton then it is a deal!

  4. i wouldn't be upset..we might as well face facts.  we sux, and no matter what we do this year, the mets are on fire, and are gonna end up blowing us out by like 30 games by year end.  I guess it's time to just face facts....Philly, and every team and person in it, simply blows.

  5. Well they did trade for Joe Blanton.

The chances of them getting Matt Holliday is next to 0. The Rockies think they're still in this (which they are) and Holliday is their best player. Plus the Phillies don't have that elite prospect to add on to Burrell to make this deal.

They will not get Halladay either. If thye had really wanted him, they would've went all out to get him instead getting Blanton.

I think they are done for this year (trading wise). If Myers is effective, then they have enough pitching because that offense can carry the team. I think they'll make the playoffs.

  6. The lack of real starting pitching is what is going to hurt the phillies most come the playoffs.

  7. Phillies will not get either of them

  8. im not a phillies fan but they do need to make a move especially if the marlins get manny

  9. im not a philly fan, but i think they have one of the most solid infields in the game today. There is no way in my eyes that they could afford all-stars like them. it would be nice, but it wont happen. LETS GO YANKEES!!!!!!!

  10. They are not going to make either of those moves.  I can't see how the Jays or Rox would want to trade either of these guys, as they are the faces of their franchises.  If they were really available, other teams with stronger prospects would be trading for them.

Say this out loud to yourself "Left-handed reliever."

And Ryan, did you look at the standing this morning for your 2nd place on fire Mets?

  11. I'm assuming they'd be just as disappointed as the Red Sox if we don't make a move. We're both caught up in a 3-way division race, and it's not looking good for the Red Sox or Phillies if we don't make any moves.

  12. The Phillies already made a move but it wasn't at the deadline it was too get Joe Blanton. There's no way the Phillies will be able to get Halladay or Holliday unless they give up some of their top talent in the minor leagues and it's just not going to happen.
