Today i got my puppy to sit with a treat, and the clicker. I need tips on training further. Any tips at all will be greatly appreciated. I want my baby pom to be able to sit in my lap, and obey all commands! Do you think that this is accomplishable, without puppy classes?

I want him to:

Obey ALL voice commands!

Be able to do tricks!

Sit in my lap

Walk on leashes

Go traveling!

Please give me tips on all of the above! Thanks

  1. While you can teach your dog to do anything you want them to, it is much easier to go to puppy classes.  This will not only help to teach the dog, it will also teach them to listen to you regardless of distractions.  Often times dogs that are taught at home are great when they are home, however, when they are out they find other things too distracting and do not listen.

  2. You would definatly need puppy classes and no dog can do so much without a third person who can teach and go away....thats the way the dog needs to be taught....there is a limit to what the owner can teach

  3. You could join an online training group for puppy owners - yahoo have one that worked for me. they have lots of practical advice on how to do things and also hands on advice for questions you might have from people who know through teaching it or practicing it.

Your dog should with training be able to do all of the above.

  4. How much do you know about training? The classes are more for the owners than the dogs. Training in a group is better for the dog because they learn to ignore distractions.
