I read somewhere something interesting and i would like to see if anyone else has heard this and if its true or not. I read that what you eat has an effect on how you taste down there, you know. That garlic and things make you more pungent and fruits like pineapple and such make you sweeter. Has anyone heard this, or know if its true or not? It sounds feasible.

  1. i've heard this and read it in a couple books, i'm not sure if this is myth. i assume that it isn't a strong difference in taste either way, just subtle. but you best ask this in the men's section as well because they would probably know more about the taste than the ladies would

  2. Yes, actually, what you eat does have a slight effect on "taste" for men and women. It's on of those "You are what you eat" things. The nutrients you ingest ultimately either become a part of your body or are expelled indifferent ways, including your natural lubrication. Just like the color or smell of your urine is effected by what you eat, so are your body's natural lubrication and secretions "down under".

  3. I'm not saying it makes you "taste better" down there because I don't know personally. But smells and tastes are often related to one another so it is highly possible because diet does effec the smell of vaginal secretions. (No one can argue this with me I work in an OBGYN office and come across it many times a day, and I have the issue when I eat or even cut onions)

Perineal odor is caused by oils in sweat gland secretions, vaginal secretions and urine if a woman is having urine leakage. All sweat gland secretions are basically the same components as urine so it is not uncommon to have a urine "smell" in the vulvar area which is really from sweating rather than from losing urine. Some people would describe urine odor as somewhat like ammonia.

Many of the foods we eat have odorous oils that end up being secreted in sweat. The more fat we ingest, the more oils are secreted. Vegetarians will have less "sweat odor" than meat eaters unless they are consuming a lot of pungent, spicy foods. Skin bacteria can also react with sweat and produce noxious odors although some scientists question that this occurs to any major degree. It is very likely that some women have different genetic metabolism than others so that they produce different acids in sweat that give distinctive smells.

  4. ive heard that but dont kno if its true

  5. down there?..you mean how you taste to a man while having oral s*x...? well in my experience, a woman taste great all the time, so long as she keeps herself "clean"...the smell of a woman "down there" sometimes has a bad odor, but I think that is more due to an infection or something like that..I have never heard of of the woman's juices tasting different, when she eats certain things..I suggest that if you are worried about the taste to "your" man..just keep it clean, using the feminine wipes are always a good thing to carry with you..you woman do taste good...and I really like to share that with a woman

  6. It is (just as the OB/Gyn lady explains)... but usually only a very little bit, and I can only speak from my own experience. I'm not sure how good a statistical predictor I am. ;-)

Garlic makes for a pretty strong scent and a slight change of taste if it's been eaten raw and in quantitiy (say, in hummous, a Caesar salad or things like that), but doesn't seem to do much (if anything) when eaten as part of a cooked dish.

Pineapples and mangoes don't seem to change the scent (not that *I've* noticed) but they do seem to make the taste a little sweeter and muskier.

Asparagus is famous for the way it makes people's pee smell, and it does that same thing to vaginal fluids and s***n - but only very mildly (and some people can't smell it anyhow because they don't have the scent receptors for it.)

Women who eat meat tend to (though they don't always) have a more sea-like scent than vegetarians do.

  7. Myth. What you eat does not affect the taste or smell.

  8. Yes.  Things you eat can affect the taste.

  9. I have heard this too but i am not sure if it is true.  I would imagine that you would have to eat a lot of one thing if it were going to make a difference.  It could be true though - if you eat a lot of garlic etc don't you smell it in your sweat etc? so you might smell it other places too.  And smells affect taste.

  10. it is true i am pretty sure.  i know that it is true for men.  i always make him eat fruit after that first time he didn't:(  so yeah if it is true for men then why not for us girls to.

    hope that helped:)

  11. Not true... myth.

I can tell you though that drinking a glass of cranberry juice a day and adding yogurt to your diet can be beneficial for womens health, but not for 'taste'.
