  1. With adoption agency's all you need is a credit card with a large limit. There aren't any ethical ones but all are good at separating a mother/child.

    Try foster care.

  2. User "Independant" sounds like a user that has had a negative experience with adoption . I hope every one can ignore his last comment that was completely uncalled for.

"tickled blue" user has listed all the things correctly. But if i may add, they will do a police check on you to see if you have record on child abuse or any other police record.

  3. It is called the Safe Haven Law.  This means that parents can drop children off at "safe" places like hospitals, police stations, and fire houses and NOT be charged with a crime.

These children usually wind up in foster care and are adopted once it is truly established that they have been abandon.

Look into Foster Care for adopting.  Lots of children need homes and families!

  4. They ask questions that would determine if you are able to take care of a child. That includes: background, interpersonal relationships, money/finances, your home, family dynamics, other children, other relatives, friends, job, hobbies, etc. They basically want to know everything about you...as you would be taking a child into your home......so you must be legit, responsible, and serious/committed.

I know of no 'good' adoption agencies.

Children who are safely dropped off at hospitals/fire departments, etc.--if no relatives are found--are taken into state custody....which is foster care.
