If he became king then Camilla (pewk) would become queen. What rating would you give this scenario out of 10? Interesting to hear other nationalities opinions on this too. As a Brit, but not a royalist, personally I think William (ooh so gorgeous!) should become king. Your thoughts guys?

  1. So You think looks make a man worthy of a throne? You're right it does, providing he takes part in a beauty pageant!

Why shouldn't Charles be king? He has proved he can do as good a job as any other former king, he has seen political changes and balances occurring, he's very much in tune with nature, which could help with environmental issues, he has extensive military training. He is everything a king could be.

We like to forget that his was an arranged marriage. Is it not wonderful to know that he finally has the opportunity to love the one person he always truly has?  Do you think he will put as much pressure on his sons, particularly William, knowing what that did to him?

Diana cheated on him as well. With many men, unlike him, who has stayed loyal to Camilla all these years.

The saddest love story of the 20th Century is not of Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson, but Charles and Camilla. To think that something so medieval could happen now!

I was a big Diana fan, but she died in a simple car crash a divorced woman. We marry, divorce and remarry every day, why can't he and Camilla?

Why deny her the throne just because of Diana?  Do you think Diana could make a great Queen? I'm somewhat doubtful...

So, stop two timing your country being non-royalist but wanting William to supercede his father simply because his cute. Have you any idea how many people just like him because of who his mother was?

I hope Charles becomes King, although he'll only reign for a few years, as his mother is in seemingly no rush to abdicate and he's already gone 60.  So why not wait for William who will eventually succed him anyhow?

And Camilla as Queen Consort? Why NOT?

  2. Unless Charles Abdicates the Throne...line of succession will be in place...William may be beautiful...but Daddy has more experience. One Americans Opinion

  3. How can Charles rule a country if he cannot rule over himself (camilla ahem)? It is many people's opinion that if there is no no new, charismatic, and "go-getting" ruler, the anti-royalists will push for (and possibly succeed) the abolition of the monarchy. Does Charles fit that description? For god's sake, the man was born with a silver foot in his mouth!!!

  4. I personally don't think that Charles is worthy to wear the crown.  I would give the scenario a 4 out of 10.

  5. Charles will be king. He will be the best trained person to become king in history. I think many people will be surprised by his reign.

You have to get over this fixation about Diana. Most of the world has moved on. Decades before they became fashionable causes Charles was involved in issues like: helping inner city getting a leg up (and he used his own money!) by going to college or investing in their own small businesses; sustainable agriculture; organic farming; architectural design - making communities livable places that are family-friendly.

If you are truly a fan of William's, then you should pray for his grandmother's and father's good health and long life. Being King or Queen is a job for life. You sacrifice a lot for your subjects. Give William a chance to live his life and enjoy it. Hope he becomes king later in life, so that his is a life with fun in it.

  6. I think it would be unfair to push Prince Charles aside, just because he is homely looking and married Camilla. Prince Charles has been preparing for this role as King since the day he was born, he is probably the longest "King in waiting" throughout the entire English/British history. He has been waiting for 60 years, and has done many charity work of his own for great causes. People should overlook his personal life, and see what he has done for his country, the effort and time he has put in. No one is perfect.

Prince William will get his chance and take a go on the throne when it is his time. Since he is still young and inexperienced in carrying out royal duties, who said he will be better than Prince Charles when it comes to handling the public and media through difficult times. Since Prince William has not taken the full responsibility as a full time royal, he does not have to fulful his royal duties 24/7. How do you know Prince William will handle these events with absolute perfection? There will be times when Prince William will have little slip ups and the media will openly criticize him as well.

  7. I do not think he will prove very popular as King. Mostly because people will remember that he was unfaithful to Diana, with Camilla, even before the wedding.

He has no discernible charisma & I think the public would prefer him to abdicate in favour of William.

To be honest, since the monarch has no actual power it really will not make any difference to anything in the long run.

  8. personally i think he will hand it down to William

  9. Of course, Charles should be king.  And, we just might be surprised.  I think he'll do a good job!

    best of luck to you!

  10. The whole point of monarchy is that it's not a talent or beauty contest; the crown goes to the next person in line, full stop. If you start saying "he can't be king, nobody likes him" or "let's have him, he would do a better job", you no longer have a king, you have a president.

  11. I'm Canadian, so no, I'm not following the rules, but I think that Charles will not be the greatest king. He doesn't seem to have a personality or any loyalty. And he seems to be a bit of a wet noodle.

  12. I'm a Canadian. The rule of succession is that it goes to Charles who is the rightful heir. Which is correct in my opinion. If the monarchy skips to William that will probably end it for good. William may be cute but he has no experience. He has to wait his turn  as has happened througout British history. By the way, I think you're dead wrong about Camilla. Sorry.
