which part of the country would you move to if you were used to living in a warm climate, I am moving there soon, and I am not used to cold climates, I am from Florida, and North Carolina, and actually have thin blood, anemic, so as you know about people like me, cold can be very torturous! My husband wants to move there, because he loves the country, no wars, ect......and I agree, but I am trying to collect as much info and opinions as possible about the country before I move, are the people nice, how about the jobs, climate(and i have learned that most people take it personal when I ask a GENERAL question about the climate, so I will ask....which parts have the warmest climates) my husband is a musicain, so how about the live music, I have been on many websites, that tell about the country, but it is like reading a travel guide, I would like some answers from real people, not articles, ya know? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

  1. BC all the way.  It's a beautiful part of the country, with warm summers and mild winters.  Vancouver, for instance, is right  on the Pacific Ocean, so you've got beaches, and half an hour away you've got mountiains.  Ever been skiing and sunbathing in the same afternoon?

The BC interior is gorgeous - AND HOT in the summer.  It does get it's fair share of snow in the winter, but the weather is still mild.

Alberta and Saskatchewan are the hot economy in Canada - with the oil business booming, so are jobs.  But housing is starting to become harder to find and more espensive.  Both of these provinces southernmost cities have less cold winters than many parts of the country.

  2. Perhaps the best compromise for weather would be the interior of BC or Vancouver Island. Kelowna in the Okanagan Valley is in fruit and grape-growing country so isn't too far different from parts of California. Winters can get cold but not too bad with relatively little snow, and it's dry so you don't feel the cold so much, and summers can be blazing hot. Very nice area. Vancouver Island, on its east coast anyway is somewhat drier than Vancouver itself and won't get really hot summer but not cold winters either.

You don't say what sort of musician or whether he makes his living from it locally, plays on tour or just likes to play. There's a pretty lively music scene in BC, naturally most so in Vancouver where most of the population is, but it will be very different because we have such a small population compared to the US.

  3. Vancouver and Victoria, BC seem to have the most moderate climate...and the music scene is pretty good there too.

Toronto is great, but you might find it to be too cold...

  4. As far as live music, I will have to warn you. We Canadians don't get visits by popular artists quite as often as Americans do. So if you're looking to see your favorite band live, be aware of that fact.

  5. I think you'd be happiest in Toronto. Your husband could easily find work there. It gets very hot in the summer and most winters aren't too bad.

Job wise, your husband would also find work in Vancouver.

    And, there's always Halifax.

  6. Toronto

    Hot summers between 80 º F - 104º F

great diverse people. In general the population is very kind...

It is the most populated, many job oppertunities

great music from concerts to good ol buskers

I think Toronto is the best choice for you

    hope i helped

  7. umm definantly somewhere in BC...Vancouver or Victoria

If you are used to hot weather you won't last in the East.

It's nice weather in Vancouver, right now it's 31 degrees!!

  8. British Columbia!  Victoria has the mildest winters with mostly rain.  In the summer time the city is a veritable showroom of flowers.  Another good spot is Kamloops, my hometown.  It does get cold in Winter time but spring starts in February.  We get a California updraft so summers are hot and dry.  Surrounded by foothills, one has a hard time seeing a more diverse array of forage.

And...we were voted 1st place in the international Communities in Bloom Competition!   (We always win)

    Welcome to Canada!

  9. hmmm, for your case i would say you would be best off near southern Ontario. If your husband is a White Collar worker Toronto is pretty good for jobs, and if he's a Blue Collar try out Hamilton (where i'm from =) ) The only exception was that this year winter kicked started a bit earlier than usual, and we had little time spree between Jan to April where we got hit with one snow storm after another, but it was weird because i havent seen that in years. If you think that the best bet be British Columbia, as most of the winter are mild, so Vancouver get's rain rather than snow. Unless you live in Rocky Mountain Areas than your bound to get hit with snow.

  10. Honestly, anywhere in Canada will be freezing at winter unless its on west coast.

  11. Defintly stay in ontario. Out east and west can get very, very cold. Peterborough is a very nice place, i do not live there, but ive been there. They had a bit of a cold winter this year, but ussaly , is not that cold.

  12. Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

Not particularly "warm" or "hot"; its extremely mild. The place where I live (Courtenay) gets about three days of snow a year. In addition to that, it doesn't get particularly hot in the summer.
