To all Doctors! PLEASEEE i need an answer. If one identical twin is sterile can the other twin also be sterile

  1. I am not a doctor, but I do work in health care. I would say that chances are that it is not likely for the other twin to be sterile, but just in case he should get checked out. It could be a defect in just the one or something could have caused it later on in his life.

  7. Yeah, we get a lot of medical doctors hanging around on GWS. They have nothing better to do.

    There are very few genetic causes of sterility...most of them are chromosomal problems like Klinefelter's syndrome. It's usually because of disease (like mumps) or injury (herniations, blockages).

    So it's unlikely that if one twin is sterile, the other will be, unless they both have something genetic like Klinefelter's.
