Gday

My outboard decision has pretty much been made. Looking at a 70hp Suzi 4 stroke, wondering what the service from Suzuki is like, etc. Also very importantly, what is your annual maintanance cost? From what I gather its about 600 bucks but im hopeing for less

Cheers

  1. I used to run a powerboat school, we used honda, the problem with all four stroke engines is that they are much more complicated then the old two stroke type. Repairs need specialist equipment and electric diagnostic kits. Many companys paint bolts to make sure you do not service yourself, you will loose your warrantly. Four strokes are great though, less fuel and noise. Top oil regularly, flush out cooling water regularly and most importantly keep the fuel clean and avoid water contamination and it should last a long time. Happy boating. Remember just like a car service costs go up as the engine gets older.

  2. I hope you are deciding on more than just price. Please keep in mind, service net work,(where and when you can get service, and is it available where you are boating, not just where you live but at the cottage or on a trip etc.),parts price and availability.
