Question:

To all Twilighters, what do you think about Meyer's decision to cancel (postpone?) Midnight Sun?

For those of you not aware, the 1st twelve chapters of Midnight Sun were leaked by someone, and Meyer has now been devastated to the point where she can no longer write the book (http://stepheniemeyer.com/ for her message about it).

What do you think about her choice?

As for me, I selfishly WANT and almost need the book to come out (I was looking forward to it so much! I cried when I found out)...yet, at the same time, I have no disappointment or anger towards Meyer...only towards whoever released it. She can't write it as she would have, and I wouldn't want the book to be messed up. Besides, maybe it'll teach people not to leak or support leaked novels (though it'll still happen...some people have no guilt)... because of this event, I refuse to read the first twelve chapters, even though she provides the link now that she's decided not to finish. I'm hoping that in years she'll recover from what's happened and release it, in which case I want to read it the way it's supposed to be read...

Poor Stephenie...she didn't deserve that.

  1. I don't see why it should effect her creativity. She knows what she wants to write, and it's not changing how the rest of the book would have turned out.

Yes it's upsetting, but shouldn't she be a little more worried about devastating all her fans?

I really wanted to read that book. It's rare to find an author willing to re-write the story in a different character's perspective.

  2. p****y, in ANY form is horrible, whether it be from a book, play, music or ANY form. It is devastating to an artists creativity, especially when they;ve dedicated so much to its' creation.

The decision to postpone is the right thing to do....and I hope the person involved is identified and punished....there is an obligation of respect for privacy when dealing with an artists property and this person or persons has clearly violated it.

  3. wow thats terrible and the first im hearing of it (im so late on these things). i just finished reading the first one and i cant wait to get the second (my mom wont let me get it till i finish my summer school work haha)

i hope she manages to finish it

  4. I think Miss Stephenie has made the right decision. If she continued writing in the current state of mind we wouldn't get the best possible book she could give us. Mood DOES affect writing - it doesn't matter if you already know what you want to write. What matters is HOW it is written. THAT is the crux of the matter.

Also, by putting the book on hold indefinitely, she is not punishing or teasing the fans. I think that is absolutely horrible that people cannot seem to understand that. She stopped writing FOR NOW. ONLY for now. She WILL write again; we just have to be patient.

To add on to this, I think that the "Save Midnight Sun" petitions are ridiculous and pointless. There isn't anything to save because Midnight Sun isn't going anywhere. Miss Stephenie will write when she thinks she can - we just have to wait for her. People need to actually think rationally and try to see how Miss Stephenie is feeling right now.

I guess only a writer can truly understand her decision and the reasoning behind her decision.

  5. I'm not mad at Stephenie, I'm also mad at whoever leaked the story because that's not right and I'm a little disappointed that the rest of the Twilight community has to suffer because of one stupid person that decided to leak the book. Do you know if the book is going to be released ever or is it just going to be those 12 chapters that are on her site. I read the first chapter that she released a while ago but I refuse to read the 12 chapters that were recently leaked because that's not how it's supposed to be done and Stephenie said it wasn't perfect. I cried when I found out and I hope that Stephenie will release Midnight Sun eventually because it's honestly not fair that the whole community has to suffer just because of one person who decided to leak it. I'm not disappointed in Stephenie though, I have no idea how she feels and I can't imagine what it is to have your story leaked like that. But I hope she gets over it soon and does decide to continue writing the book.

  6. i feel so bad for her....

  7. I was ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATED.  I'd been checking stepheniemeyer.com pretty regularly ever since I heard about the leak, but I didn't expect her to just stop writing!!!  It completely ruined my day.  I wish there was some way we could reassure her that her strong fans are still there for her.  I wish there was some way we could still talk her into finishing it.  But I understand that when a story's not coming to you, it's just not coming.  Maybe later, when all this settles down...one can only hope.  I was dying for that book.  The concept was so beautiful, and I found Edward much more easy to understand than Bella.  ...*sigh*

  8. Yeah she didn't deserve it. It was selfish of the person who leaked the chapters.

I was so looking forward to it coming out as well,

  9. i think that she has all the right to do so but i think it is cruel to tease all of her fans. i personally want the novel really bad- i mean really bad! all of the twlighters should rebel.

I know Stephenie Meyer didnt deserve that! But life goes on..

  11. It's hard, but she should be able to push through it and still write. Maybe wait a bit. It's not a whole new book, it's just a new perspective. She already knows the main things that are going to happen just by following Twilight. It's not *that* hard.

  12. it was the worst thing that could have happened i was heart broken...

    Save Midnight Sun

  13. I feel bad. Twilight is my fav. series and I was planning on reading Midnight Sun.  I also feel bad for Stephenie, here writer's rights were totally violated.  Plus she sees no point in continuing the story to be published now that over half of the book's draft was leaked on the internet.  The internet,...now everyone can read the draft.  I wouldn't read it though, I understand why she is upset and I'll only read Midnight Sun if it's published, edited and sold in stores after she is finished with it and is ready for her fans to read it.  That is if she would finish it and publish it. :(   If her fans are true honest fans they wouldn't read the leak.  Although I think Midnight Sun won't be as good as the other books,... I read the 1st chapter she published on her website under her consent, and it's much darker and murderous than the others.  I don't really get the same feeling that I do from the other books.
