Question:

To all muslims: why is it that you never quote any suras when reasoning deep subjects, i.e.: why we die, etc?

I use - being acquainted with the teachings of what you consider one of your prophets, Jesus Christ (although you do not call Him "Christ" because that means 'Messiah'), and my Lord the Son of God - uncountable principles explained by Him, but I never hear any Imman or Mullah quoting principles - similarly - from the q'ram.

It's rather what everybody thinks or believes, not really principles that apply Universally (such as "Do unto others like you would like done unto you"). The only thing I notice it's most all muslims saying 'Allah akbar', which I understand, but t's poor in wisdom. Shouldn't people with close intimacy with God display more knowledge of Him and His wisdom?

  1. What you said, surprized me.

"being acquainted with the teachings of what you consider one of your prophets"

It is the bible that refers to Jesus as the prophet. Does it not?  "Being acquainted with the teachings" you must have come across the following verses in the bible:

    John 6:14, John 7:40, Matthew 21:10 & 11, Matthew 16:13 &14

    Mark 8:27 & 28, Luke 9:18 &19, John 8:17, Luke 7:15 &16

    John 7:52, Luke 9:7 & 8, Luke 24:18 & 19, John 4:44

    Matthew 13:57, Mark 6:4, Luke 4:24, Luke 13:33

    Matthew 10:40 &41, Matthew 23:37, John 7:16 & 17

Muslims believe what the bible says about Jesus in the above quoted verses.

  2. The Book of Faith (Kitab Al-Iman) [001:0078] It is narrated on the authority of Abu Shuraih al-Khuzai' that the Prophet (may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) observed: He who believes in Allah and the Last Day should do good to his neighbour and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should show hospitality to the guest and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should either Speak good or better remain silent.

Ch 16 v125. Invite (mankind, O Muhammad SAW) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islâm) with wisdom (i.e. with the Divine Revelation and the Qur'ân) and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. Truly, your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided.

    * "Allah will not be merciful to those who are not merciful to people."-Mohammad in Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 9, #473

    The Glorious Qur’an says:

    "Every soul shall have

    A taste of death:

    And only on the Day

    Of Judgement shall you

    Be paid your full recompense.

    Only he who is saved

    Far from the Fire

    And admitted to the Garden

    Will have attained

    The object (of life):

For the life of this world

    Is but goods and chattels

    Of deception."

    [Al-Qur’an 3:185]

*Jarir bin `Abdullah reported: Messenger of Allah (Mohammad) said, "He who is not merciful to people Allah will not be merciful to him.'' --[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

*Ibn `Abbas reported: Messenger of Allah (Mohammad) said to Ashaj Abdul-Qais , "You possess two qualities that Allah loves. These are CLEMENCY and TOLERANCE.''--[Muslim]

Ch : 29 v64. And this life of the world is only an amusement and play! Verily, the home of the Hereafter, that is the life indeed (i.e. the eternal life that will never end), if they but knew.

Ch 67 v1. Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion, and He is Able to do all things.

v2. Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed. And He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving.

Ch 17 v 19 . And whoever desires the Hereafter and strives for it, with the necessary effort due for it (i.e. do righteous deeds of Allâh's Obedience) while he is a believer (in the Oneness of Allâh— Islâmic Monotheism), then such are the ones whose striving shall be appreciated, (thanked and rewarded by Allâh)

Prophetic Commentary on the Quran (Tafseer of the Prophet (pbuh)) [60:303] Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet, said, "Allah said, 'I have prepared for My pious worshipers such things as no eye has ever seen, no ear has ever heard of, and nobody has ever thought of. All that is reserved, besides which, all that you have seen, is nothing." Then he recited:-- 'no soul knows what is kept hidden (in reserve) for them of joy as a reward for what they used to do.' (32.17)

Blood Money (Ad-Diyat) [83:10] Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet said, "The biggest of Al-Kaba'ir (the great sins) are (1) to join others as partners in worship with Allah, (2) to murder a human being, (3) to be undutiful to one's parents (4) and to make a false statement," or said, "to give a false witness."

  3. First of all, 'Jesus Christ' is mentioned in the Quran, and a good site with an excellent english translation is: www.alketab.com

Second of all, Mullah isn't a word of Islamic origin. As for Imam, it means the pesron leading people for prayer, and it could be anyone, I lead my mom during prayer, and that makes me her Imam (Im a girl).

Third of all, I don't understand how you could have percieved that muslims don't refer to principles? Our religion, just like Christianity (being from the same God) have the same basic principles, I mean nine of the ten commandments apply to us, and they are all mentioned in the Quran. In fact, we have many principles taught to us by God, in the Quran, and also by Prophet Mohammad.

Fourth, I don't get the 'do unto others....' part, if anything, Islam teaches its followers to be tolerant, to be patient, to return bad with good, and that is literally present in the Quran.

Fifth, as to Allah Akbar, it signifies the greatness of God, and it is used as part of the daily prayers, and in our pleas. But there are many many other words of wisdom in our religion, and you'll find them in the Quran, and in the Hadith, just make sure that you get your information from genuine resources..

    Hope I was helpful..
