  1. No, Betta Fish are very aggressive and will try to kill the other fish and sometimes other Betta Fish. I would suggest keeping the Betta Fish in two seperate tanks. It sounds terrible, but you don't want fish to kill eachother.

  2. Not a good idea. The betta will probaby fight. About the only time you can mix betta is a large group of females.

You could probably keep a male betta if you drop the red tail shark. The red tail may attack the bettas long fins. It's never 100% thing, just a possible problem.

A female betta would be fine with the other fish, they are shorter finned and less likely to get picked on by fin nippers.

  3. That could be the worst combo of fish i have ever heard...

    Just plain idiotic....

The only glimmer of hope is that you asked first..

for that i give you top marks..

keep doing it to avoid the disaster.

  4. No.  Male and female bettas should only be put together for breeding purposes and then seperated immediately after spawning.  The danios are fin nippers and should not be kept with any betta, ever.  Barbs can sometimes be fin nippers, too.  Keep your bettas out of that tank.

  5. I know a lot of people that has had success with aggressive fishes. This I figured out the reason for their success is due to the fact that for one, their aquarium tanks are really big, which in turn their tanks has a lot of hiding places for their fishes to hide and for two, there is so much swimming space that by the time the aggressive fishes even get close to the fish that they're trying to attack, it has used up a considerable amount of energy.

So unless you have a really big tank with a lot of hiding places for your fish, this is not recommended, especially the male betta with the female betta, the case is usually because the male betta is more dominant than the female, after they reproduce, the Male betta usually tries to kill the female, but if there is plenty of hiding places and a big area to swim around, the female has a 60% survival rate.

Along with the cherry barbs, zebra danios and the red tail shark that someone also has mentioned, these fishes are in fact fin nippers and will go against each other. But like I said, if you have a really large tank for these fishes to swim and hide, this will not be a really good idea.

You should do some research online before considering buying aquarium fishes, some are hardier than others. You need the knowledge of what you can mix and how much you can put in the tank, for example if you have a 100 gallon tank with hiding places, you can put these fishes in, however, if you have only a 55 gallon tank, this method will not be recommended by most experienced aquarists.

Anyways, I hope that this helps, and this is an educational lecture for all people out there. Thanks for asking................

  6. I agree with everyone else.  Also the Tail shark might be fine it is a social fish.  Well mine are and when put alone will die.

  7. the two bettas and the snail are fine but the beta will kill the other fish

  8. I wouldn't recomend it. While you could do it, it depends on the temperment of the individual fish. You could do more than 1 female betta though, such as cut out the male and add 5 females..

Before you add new species, I would worry about your existing ones. Barbs and danios should be kept in schools so at least 6 of each.

Another thing to watch out for is the danios nipping the bettas and future aggression towards all fish (especially the cories) from the redtail shark, these get big (5 inches) and aggressive towards other fish if kept in too small an aquarium.

  9. no you can't ... and cherry barbs and danios are a bit of a fin nipper as well, red tail shark is not compatible with betta too.

  10. You should never keep male and female bettas together excep when breeding.  So go with one or the other.

zebra danios normally do fine with bettas, just watch for fin nipping from these guys.

the cherry barbs are known fin nippers and would not be good choices as they'll shred a slow moving bettas fins.

    The cories would be fine.

  11. It is always up to the fish... always up to the fish night your decision they're.
