To all police officers; How do you deal with people hating even if they are the ones at fault?

Okay. So I have been browsing this thread for a long time now, and it always disgusts me to see people talk about how much they hate Police officers. Of course it is not only here, I hear it everywhere I go.

" The d**n police pulled me over for drinking."

"Yeah man, that happened to me before, police are ***holes"

Well, maybe you should not have been drinking. Maybe the police had every right to pull you over because not only were they doing your job, but they were saving the person that you could possibly kill because you were selfish enough to get behind the wheel of a car intoxicated.

Everyday I hear people bashing police officers because they committed a crime (Speeding, or whatever). It is just they cannot own up to what they did, so they make it sound like it was the officer who was at fault.

Sure, their are officers that abuse their power. However, their is corruption in every single job that is out there!

It just pisses me off knowing that i'm going to go to college to be an officer, and be looked down upon so much, even though I will be risking my life every day to save the people that disrespect me.

So I guess my question is, how do you officers deal with this?

You eventually realize that there will always be a small segment of society that is anti police. There is nothing you or I or anyone can do to change their minds. It's just the way it is. Once you realize this, and understand that 90% or better of the population, unfortunatley mostly the silent portion, appreciate your efforts and like having you around... Keeping that in perspective makes it easier to deal with.. and you learn to ignore the naysayers

Calmly . Without getting all riled up about it . People hearing or reading those messages on Answers are  not all stupid .Where ignorance is Bliss it is folly to be wise.
